About Us

The Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia (JUPEM) is a government agency under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES). Established in 1885, JUPEM is responsible for various important tasks related to land surveying, mapping, and geodesy in Malaysia.

JUPEM's main functions include:

Land Surveying: Carrying out land surveying work for the registration of ownership, including measuring land boundaries to ensure accuracy in mapping and ownership.

Mapping: Providing topographic maps and specialized maps for public, private, and government use. JUPEM plays a key role in producing detailed maps used in various sectors such as development, security, and research.

Geodesy: Establishing the national geodetic framework through the setup of coordinate reference systems used for accurate measurement and mapping purposes.

Geographic Information System (GIS): Managing GIS data, which provides digital maps and geographic information systems for various applications including urban planning, security, and infrastructure development.

Cadastral Data Management: Systematically managing land records and data, including information related to land ownership and boundaries to ensure proper and legitimate registration.

JUPEM also provides support services to various national development projects by producing and updating mapping data as well as comprehensive land management. This agency plays a crucial role in managing land and spatial resources in Malaysia.
